User Interface: The Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 user interface is clean and uncluttered. Dialogs offer lots of options but very little explanation. Novice users will be lost with anything but the default settings in most cases; the configuration options can be overwhelming. So if you know what “Enable application integrity control” means, go for it.
Scanning: Scanning was slow, but thorough. It detected and quarantined all viruses and Trojans we threw at it.
Real-Time Protection: One of the best products of its kind on the market, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 protects against viruses, Trojans, worms, spyware, adware, rootkits, and keyloggers in real time.
Upgrades and Updates: The user can configure how and when updates and upgrades will be performed.
Value: The price of Kaspersky Anti-Virus is $59.95 for a 1-year subscription for one PC, $69.95 for 3 PCs You can extend the 1-year subscription to 24 months for $89.95, or 36 months for $119.95. Multi-user licenses are available at steep discounts. An additional $6.99 is added for extended download support, but this can be removed from the shopping cart.
Integrated Support Options: Kaspersky Labs does not provide customer support for users of the trial version of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0. Users must register to get any support other than the system Help file, or online knowledge base. The Kaspersky Forum requires registration for posting. Installation: Installation was cumbersome. When Kaspersky detected another antivirus on our system with which it was incompatible, it prompted to uninstall it. Uninstall required a reboot as did installation. A full install of this product provides: virus scan, file real time protection, mail real time protection, Web real time protection, and proactive defense.
Virus Detection: In our testing, virus detection was good. Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 detected and removed most viruses, spyware, and Trojans we threw at it. In most cases the product did not allow the malware to be installed or copied.
Phishing and Malicious Web site Protection: Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 provides protection against phishing attacks or malicious Web sites.
Updates: In our testing, we found that Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 performed updates automatically after installation and reboot to retrieve the latest definitions. The update feature works only if the product is activated.
